Album Art, Songs and Old Magic: The Designs Explained
Every Angel Witch design in our shop starts with something from the band's world: an album, a song, a show or the occult imagery the band has always loved. Here is what is printed on each one.
Which designs come from the debut album?
- Debut Album: the cover painting of Angel Witch (1980), The Fallen Angels Entering Pandemonium, in a round frame under the band name. The painting was formerly attributed to John Martin.
- Pandemonium Triangle: the same burning landscape, cut into a triangle with a yellow edge.
- Angel of Death: named for the song near the end of the debut, with a skull-faced figure under a huge wing.
Which songs and releases are on the designs?
- Loser: a tarot card with a cloaked skeleton and the word LOSER, named for the 1981 Loser EP.
- Don't Turn Your Back: a purple six-pointed star with staring eyes, a dagger and a chalice, named for the opening song of Angel of Light (2019).
- Hell's Pleasure: the name of the German metal festival Angel Witch played in July 2012, in tall blackletter over a red occult seal. This one carries no band name.
And the occult art?
- Priestess: a priestess kneeling in flames inside a seven-pointed star, with SOLVE and COAGULA on two raised hands.
- Crystal Ball: a vintage portrait of a woman holding a crystal ball, in a red Art Nouveau frame.
- Bat Wing: a pale figure with a bat wing in a teal frame, under a crescent moon and pentagram.
- Crimson Cross: a painted woman in a torn crimson robe on an ornate cross, with a huge orange moon behind her.
